2022年3月13日から14日に新潟県南魚沼市で開催された「Free Radical School 2021」において、加藤千博さんが「芋焼酎醪から抽出した脂溶性ポリフェノールは抗腫瘍作用を持ち抗がん治療を増強する」と題する口頭発表で最優秀演題賞を受賞しました。

The English name of our affiliation has been changed from "National Institutes for Quantum and Radiological Science and Technology" to "National Institutes for Quantum Science and Technology."

生体関連レドックス（酸化還元）反応の量子化学
レドックス(Redox)とは、英語のReduction (還元)とOxidation (酸化)を合わせた言葉で、日本語では「酸化還元」を表します。具体的には、電子や水素原子、水素化物イオンの受け渡しを伴う化学反応がレドックス反応で、光合成や細胞呼吸をはじめとする生命活動において重要な役割を果たしています。
私たちのグループは、生体関連レドックス反応の中でも特に重要な活性酸素種や関連するラジカル種の生成や消去のメカニズムを、物理化学的手法を駆使して分子レベル、さらには量子レベルで解明することを目指しています。

Quantum chemistry of bio-related redox reactions
Redox means reduction and oxidation reactions, in which the transfer of electrons, hydrogen atoms, or hydride ions occurs, and plays a pivotal role in biological reactions, such as photosynthesis, cell respiration and so on.
Our research group aims to elucidate the mechanisms for bio-related redox reactions, especially for generating and scavenging of reactive oxygen species and related radicals at molecular and quantum levels, using physicochemical techniques.
